Recognition in Public Diplomacy for Women for Africa

10th July, 2017. The Women for Africa Foundation was given recognition by the diplomatic entity Casa África in the Public Diplomacy category “for its work in raising awareness about the role of women in development in Africa”. The diploma was accepted by our president, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, in the institutional ceremony with which Casa África celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The ceremony was held in Las Palmas and chaired by the Foreign Affairs Minister Alfonso Dastis, and the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo. Awards were also given in Economic Diplomacy for the airline Binter, in Digital Diplomacy for the publication Mundo Negro, in Cultural Diplomacy for the FCAT African Film Festival; and in Outstanding Work for the Canaries Federation of African Associations (Federación de Asociaciones Africanas en Canarias)..

María Teresa Fernández de la Vega gave thanks for these recognitions on behalf of all the award winners, highlighting the great work done by Casa África over the last 10 years in the autonomous region of the Canary Islands, which feels especially close to the continent and not only for geographical reasons.

Women for Africa is grateful for the honour bestowed upon it by Casa África, an entity that always maintains close collaboration for the benefit of African women.
