Our condolences to the people of France after the attacks in Paris

14th November, 2015. The Women For Africa Foundation condemns the horrific terrorist attacks yesterday in Paris, and adds its voice to the outcry brought about by this attack on democratic values and freedom worldwide. Our sincere condolences, sympathy and support go to the families of the victims, the people of France and their authorities.

The president of Women For Africa (Mujeres por África or MxA), Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, has sent the following message of condolence to the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo:

“Dear Mayor; dearest Anne,

I am deeply moved by the brutal attacks yesterday in Paris and I am writing to convey my deep condolences over the deaths of so many citizens in the heart of the city that you govern so ably. I sincerely hope that the many who were wounded will make a quick recovery.

It was a heinous act of barbarity that struck at the heart of France in an attempt to undermine its democratic foundations.

Those who perpetrated this vile attack have attempted to attack our system of values in order to instil fear and intimidation. I have no doubt that Parisians and the French people as a whole will know how to react in unison to defend themselves from obscurantism, religious fanaticism and senselessness. You know that you can count on my complete solidarity and that of the Spanish people.

I send you my warmest regards.”
