Agreement with the Union for the Mediterranean

Agreement with the Union for the Mediterranean

Tuesday, 24th January. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Mr Fathallah Sijilmassi, and our president signed a framework agreement this morning in Barcelona by which both entities state their intention to collaborate in joint projects and activities to help African women.

The signing took place during the Union for the Mediterranean’s 2nd Regional Forum, attended by María Teresa Fernández de la Vega in the Pedralbes Palace in the presence of UfM’s Vice Secretary General, Delphine Borione.

Via this agreement, Women for Africa (Mujeres por África) and the Union for the Mediterranean must promote initiatives that promote the role and participation of women from this region in all spheres of public life, lending them visibility and helping to empower them. The agreement’s spheres of activity include women’s participation in peace processes, the search for responses to extremism and radicalisation, and work on the causes of illegal immigration.
