Agreement with the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE)

Madrid, 27th May.  Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, president of Women For Africa, and Manuel José Lopez, president of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), signed a collaboration agreement this afternoon at our foundation’s headquarters to bolster collaboration in the field of university education and in particular to promote access for African women university students to postgraduate and doctoral studies in Spanish universities.

Women For Africa has been working with Spanish universities since it began its activities, and has made knowledge transfer one of the fundamental features in all of its programmes. For this reason it already has agreements with several Spanish universities, some of which, such as La Rioja, are already offering scholarships to African women students.

This relationship has now been strengthened with the signing of the agreement with CRUE, a body with which a total of 76 Spanish universities are associated: 50 state universities and 26 private ones. CRUE’s objectives include promoting university research, promoting Spanish universities’ cooperation with each other and with similar foreign institutions, information exchange, and promoting studies, reports and recommendations that result in greater, more effective cooperation with governmental authorities.
